Javascript For The Internet --- Fall 2003

If I had lots of cool things to say about this course.. I'd say them here, but for now all I can say is I'm excited the course has finally begun and can't wait to learn lots of new javascript techniques. I'm looking forward to being able to add more interactivity to my web pages and am also hoping to learn more about Dynamic HTML applications.

Up until this past year I worked as the Internet manager and full time webmaster for a company up in Sheffield, MA. It seems I did such a good job training my assistant that they figured out they could save a ton of money and phase out my position and just keep him. Hence, I am in the job market again. I have my own web design, hosting and promotion business. I am going for my Webmaster and Internet Design Certificate in the hopes that this piece of paper will assist me in bringing in more customers and/or helping me to find another full time webmaster position. Currently, the only other course I am taking is Database Management, and this course is also on-line. Last semester I took C++ on-line with Michael Gow. After this JavaScript course, I will only need Dreamweaver for the certificate and at that point, I'd like to more fully concentrate on increasing my earnings.

I have a little experience with "lifting" and adjusting other people's JavaScript, but I'm hoping that after this course, I'll be able to write some of my own. I've got a list of websites in my portfolio. To see a few of them, you can click the home button and click on my portfolio, or my references. I'm kind of like the cobbler who has no shoes though. It's been forever since I worked on my own site. Webmastery.org is in desperate need of updating. Perhaps after this course I'll add a little of my own JavaScript!

I'm on-line pretty much 24/7 because of needing to make sure the sites I am responsible for are always working and up-to-date (or perhaps I'm just a little obsessive!). I can be reached at kim@webmastery.org, through the mailbox for this course, the webct javascript discussion board, ICQ-#889782 and even have a Messenger account should anyone prefer to reach me through that.
